ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Yazid II ibn 'Abd al-Malik, AH 101-105 / AD 720-724. Fals (Bronze, 20 mm, 2.57 g, 9 h), Darabjird, AH 102 = 720/1. ‘lā ilāha / illā Allāh / waḥdahū’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One’ in Arabic) in two dotted circles. Rev. ‘Muḥammad / rasūl / Allāh’ (‘Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic) in a dotted circle; ‘bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-fals bi Dārābjird sana ithnatayn wa miʾa’ (‘In the name of Allah. This fals was struck in Darabjird in the year 102’ in Arabic) in the margin. Album 199. An extremely rare date for a very rare type. Repatinated, otherwise, very fine.
